Rent receipts in France, in short
A rent receipt (quittance de loyer) proves the tenant has paid the rent and charges for a period. The landlord gives it for free as soon as the tenant asks, and many send one every month without waiting.
What it holds
The landlord's and the tenant's names, the property address, the period paid and the amounts received, rent and charges itemised. The template above holds all of that.
Free, on request
The landlord must give it for free to a tenant who asks. No management or sending fee may be charged for it.
Full receipt or part payment
A quittance is for a period paid in full. If the tenant paid only part, the landlord gives a receipt for that part, then the quittance once the balance is paid.
By email
The landlord may send it as a PDF, by email, with the tenant's express agreement. Otherwise, on paper.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, as soon as the tenant asks, and for free (article 21 of the law of 6 July 1989). Without a request, nothing requires one every month.
Yes. Tick “Several months” and pick the period: you get one PDF, with a receipt for each month.
Enter the amount received: the document becomes a receipt for part payment, with the balance due. The quittance comes once the period is paid in full.
French is what French landlords, agencies and administrations expect, so it is the default. Pick English if your tenant needs it.
At least three years: unpaid rent can be claimed for that long (article 7-1 of the law of 6 July 1989).
No. The receipt is made in your browser and nothing is sent to LivedIn. What you type stays on this device, so next month's receipt takes one click.
