The standard Paris rental market is built around a guarantor living in France with income at least three times the rent. If you're arriving from abroad, you generally don't tick that box - and this isn't a rare or marginal problem, it's the number one blocker for any international arrival.
Two real paths exist to get around it entirely, with no personal guarantor at all.
What is a mobility lease (bail mobilité)?
A furnished lease format for stays of 1 to 10 months, created specifically for professional relocations, studies or internships. No security deposit is legally allowed, and it doesn't require a French guarantor in the vast majority of cases.
Can Visale really replace a guarantor?
Yes. Visale is a free French state-backed guarantee (via Action Logement) that covers the landlord in case of unpaid rent. The Visale certificate is presented to the landlord exactly as a personal guarantor would be.
Does short/mid-term furnished housing require a French bank account?
Generally not. Payment is by card or transfer from any bank, including a foreign neobank. That's what lets you book before you've even sorted out your bank account.
